I can’t be the only one fed up with social media. The constant changing algorithm. The pressure to post X amount of times a day, just to be seen. The drive to reach a certain number of followers. Don’t even get me started with the trolls. But yet we still show up with our silly little posts. Why? In my little corner of the Tik Tok universe I see a lot of moms showing up trying to monetize the platform, make a little extra cash to contribute to their family. But are we doing this at the expense of our mental health?Â
It’s kind of ironic, being a stay at home mom means you’re always with other people. But yet it can be simultaneously so lonely. I decided to show up publicly on social media to create a community of moms. To share some of my struggles as a mom and hopefully find other moms who feel the same way. Unfortunately the sight of my goals have become a little clouded in attempts to keep up with the social media rat race. I recently took a step back in efforts to reevaluate my purpose on social media. I realized that I needed to call it quits, at least in the way I’ve been doing things. I’m not giving up my account, but I’m not sacrificing my mental health for the sake of an algorithm or pleasing a stranger on the internet. I still want to show up, but I want to do it on my time and when it feels right for me.Â
I want an outlet for my mom brain and foster a community of moms, but without the pressure of another platform. I plan to focus my efforts more on my blog rather than growth on social media. I want to share struggles I experience in motherhood, products I love, meals my kids love, tips for traveling with littles, anything related to my life.
I’m excited to have you follow along and hope you can find something that speaks to you!
